1. General Commitments

2. Energy

2.1. Leeds Buddhist Centre aims to use all energy sources as efficiently as possible, and to reduce

greenhouse gas emissions as well as emissions related to noise, and other nuisances. For example,

our investment in insulation when we refurbished Beech House in 2023.

2.2. Leeds Buddhist Centre regularly assesses the possibilities for introducing renewable energy in

our operations in order to reduce our carbon footprint and aims to convert our energy use to

renewable source providers.

3. Waste

3.1. Leeds Buddhist Centre works to eliminate or reduce/minimize waste generation in order to

preserve resources and avoid pollution of soil, water and air.

3.2. Leeds Buddhist Centre aims to avoid any form of uncontrolled land filling or uncontrolled on-

site/off-site waste handling.

3.3. Leeds Buddhist Centre is committed to reducing waste that cannot be recycled, and to

increasing circularity.

3.4 Leeds Buddhist Centre is not a residential property and so is prohibited from using Leeds City

Council waste and recycling collections and recycling sites, We are obliged to use a commercial

waste carrier. Our carrier recycles a proportion of the collected waste in accordance with its own

policy. We regularly review the carrier we are contracting with. The Trustees of Leeds Buddhist

Centre welcome any suggestions for contracting with a commercial waste carrier with a better

performance of recycling and reducing landfill.

3.5 If you bring food or drink to Leeds Buddhist Centre for your own consumption, please take the

recyclable packaging home with you for recycling.

4.1 Leeds Buddhist Centre prioritizes environmental aspects of investments and purchases

4.2. Leeds Buddhist Centre prioritizes the purchase of energy-efficient equipment and improved

design for energy/environmental performance.
